Respectfully Sheweth:-

The humble petition of Labh Singh,

· Subadar H.K.S.B.R.A., Lall Singh,

Sergeant Major, HongKong Police Force;" Kewal Ram, Merchant; Sham Dess, Mer- cantile Assistant; and Kehar Singh, Excise Officer, Opium Farm,

That your petitioners have been appointed by the united Hindon and Sikh residents of this Colony as their repre- sentatives, to bring to the notice of Your Excellency in Council, that though the Government has been good enough to allot to them a plot of ground near the Mahomedan Cemetery for cremation pur- poses, the need for a public place of Worship for the whole of their Community is much felt.

That the Hindoos and Sikhs in this Colony consist of

the following sections viz:

1. Members of the Local Sikh Companies R.A..

2. Members of the Local Police Force.

3. Watchmen employed by various Firms in the

Colony.

4. Merchants trading in the Colony.

5. Other Hindoos and Sikhs; dealers in the

Colony, also employees in the Victoria Gaol. That of the above, only the members of the Royal Artil- lery and the Police Force have small portions of their
